McBreen to Pay: "...there's no friends in football..."

McBreen- Fury Last season

Round 9 Previews and Teams in full

Central Coast Mariners v North Queensland Fury, Bluetongue Stadium, Saturday, 5.15pm (EST)

Central Coast Mariners have been miserly in defence this season making good on Graham Arnold’s pre-season promise. They also continue to improve their home record having not lost at Bluetongue since New Years Eve. The Fury is coming off a hectic road trip that took in matches in trying conditions in both Wellington and Sydney. They will be buoyed by their late comeback against the Sky Blues but I can’t see them breaking their 12 game winless streak on the road just yet. A well rested Coast will be keen to take sole ownership of second place with all three points.

Matt Ham is going in for his knee surgery this week and is due to have a 6 week rehabilitation program before starting to get match-fit. Daal is back, hungry for goals, and Hingert is hungry for more time on the park, after midweek action proved him a valuable prospect for Fury to use off the bench.

The Fury will also have former player Daniel McBreen to contend with, and ex-teammate Jack Hingert said he was certain the striker would be intent on punishing his old side. But the youngster vowed it would not happen on his watch. "Off the pitch we're all still friends, but on the pitch there's no friends in football," Hingert said. "I'm going to do all I can to make sure he doesn't score, because I'm sure we won't hear the end of it if he does." From today's Townsville Bulletin
